Recycling centres (civic amenities)

WarningFrom Monday 13 March 2023, residents visiting Essex County Council (ECC) recycling centres will need to book in advance. A booking system will be trialled for all vehicles visiting ECC recycling centres to help manage waiting times, reduce congestion, and improve the customer experience. Essex County Council is responsible for the operation of the two recycling centres for Household Waste (RCHW) in Brentwood.

For information on what can be taken to the Recycling Centres and their opening times, choose one of the locations below.

Coxtie Green, Brentwood

Roman Road, Mountnessing

Mountnessing recycling centre will not accept DIY and construction waste such as soil, hardcore, plasterboard, heavy ceramics (such as toilets and sinks), dismantled fitted bathrooms and kitchens. Vans, pick-ups and other commercial type vehicles, including those privately owned, are not allowed to use this site.

Brentwood recycling centre in Coxtie Green Road will accept small quantities of some DIY and construction waste, as long as you have completed the work yourself and it's from your own household. For details of vehicle and site restrictions, visit Love Essex.

  • Cans & plastics
  • Paper & card
  • Food and drink cartons
  • Textiles
  • Glass
  • Small electrical items

Help us by recycling responsibly and do not leave any other waste materials at this site.

It's illegal to dump black sacks, old beds, builders rubble, fridges and green waste at the above recycling site, and there is CCTV present at this site. These items can be taken to the the Civic Amenity Centres above.
