If your application is refused or is approved subject to conditions that you are unhappy about, you can appeal to The Planning Inspectorate.
Appeals are determined by one of the three methods. Written representation is where there is an exchange of written statements and an independent Inspector makes the decision, following a site visit. Informal hearings are where the Applicant, the Council and any other interested parties discuss the proposal in a semi-structured discussion lead by an Inspector. Alternatively, a Public Inquiry, which involves evidence being given and cross-examined, may be held.
Full details about how to lodge an appeal are available from The Planning Inspectorate.
