Vehicle Licence - Make an application

The Council requires that vehicles meet the Council’s Pre-Licence Conditions before it can be licensed as a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle:

Once licensed, Hackney Carriages must operate under the Council’s Hackney Carriage Licence conditions and Byelaws:

Private Hire Vehicles must operate under the Council’s Private Hire Vehicle Licence conditions:

They must be operated by a Licensed Operator:

 

Make An Application

Please note: It is an applicants responsibility to ensure that they meet all licence and pre-licence criteria prior to making any purchase of a vehicle. The Council can accept no responsibility should any vehicle submitted for licensing fail to meet these criteria. Therefore should there be any doubt please contact the licensing team.

Applicants for vehicle and operator licences must have held a Private Hire/Hackney Carriage Vehicle Driver’s Licence within the Borough for not less than TWO years immediately preceding the first application.

 

If you wish to make an application for a New Vehicle Licence, Renew an existing Vehicle Licence or a Replacement Vehicle Licence, you should complete the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Vehicle Licence application.

 

If you wish to make an application for a New Private Hire Operator Licence or Renew an existing Private Hire Operator Licence, you should complete the Private Hire Operator Licence application

 

If you wish to make a payment for a Vehicle Inspection or Inspection Retest, you should complete the Vehicle Inspection Payment Form

Please note that if you do not have access to a computer there is one available for use that is situated in the Council reception at 1-2 Seven Arches Road.
