Taxi trade consultative group

What does the Taxi Trade Consultative Group do?

The Taxi Trade Consultative Group is a forum for discussing issues affecting the hackney carriage and private hire trades in the Borough.

We meet approximately three times a year, key subjects are the licensing fees and the taxi fares in the borough.

The Group has also recently discussed the new Brentwood Council taxi licensing policy, the Best Practice Guidance issued by the Government, the high street works and the ranks around the town.

Who sits on the Consultative Group?

The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Licensing/Appeals Committee and the Opposition Spokesperson on the Committee represent Councillors. Hackney carriage and private hire proprietors, operators and drivers are represented by nominated individuals from the local trade.

The current representatives are:

  • Steve Smith
  • Graham Dinning
  • Paul Dartford
  • Andrew Gladen
  • Andrew Earl
  • James Schofield
  • Paul Topley

Companies with more than five vehicles are also entitled to representation on the Consultative Group in their own right.

Officers from the Council's Licensing Section also attend the meetings.

If you have items you you like to discuss, or if you would like to join the group, email licensing@brentwood.gov.uk.
