E-books and e-audio

An e-book is an electronic version of a book which can be read either on a computer, e-book readers, tablets or smartphones. E-audiobooks are audio books which are borrowed as an audio file that you need to download online. You can then listen to these on a range of devices, including MP3 players, tablets and smartphones.

Mobile libraries
Mobile libraries carry a wide range of books and other items. You can find out when the mobile library is visiting your village.

Essex archives online at the Essex record office
The County Council also maintains and conserves a significant archive of records and information about the county, held in the Essex Record Office. The Essex Record Office is a valuable resource for anyone who wishes to research their family history or the history of a building within the county, and the Seax database lets you see if the documents you want to view are held by the Essex Record Office, although Seax does not contain complete copies of the documents themselves.
