Council formally issues planning permission for major development that will create jobs and boost infrastructure

Date

Brentwood Borough Council has formally issued planning permission for four major industrial units, which will provide over 112,000 sqm of floorspace with supporting office use at a development known as Brentwood Enterprise Park, which is adjacent to junction 29 of the M25.

This follows a ‘resolution to grant’ decision in December 2023, subject to negotiations on things like the S106 Agreement.

The development is allocated in the Brentwood Local Plan 2016-2033 as a major employment site, and it is envisaged that Brentwood Enterprise Park will create 1,580 construction jobs and the equivalent of 2,660 new jobs when occupied.

Councillor Philip Mynott, Chair of the Planning Committee at Brentwood Borough Council said: “This site incorporates high sustainability credentials, reducing energy demand through building design and includes measures that will save and generate power.

“It will deliver a huge boost to investment in local infrastructure including £77 million on M25 junction 29, the B186 Warley Interchange, improved walking and cycling links and improvements to bus services.

“And it will generate significant economic development benefits to the borough by creating construction jobs and new local jobs. Workers from the development are expected to spend up to £6.9 million in the local area each year.
