Mobile Homes Act 2013 - licensing of park homes
Under the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, all residential park owners require a licence from the local authority to operate. The Mobile Homes Act 2013 updated the old legislation and amongst other things, introduces changes to the procedures and penalties for enforcement of site licence conditions on residential parks.
In addition to planning permission, all caravan and residential parks need a site licence to operate, issued by the local authority, which may include specific conditions. This relates to holiday parks as well as residential parks.
The new legislation allows the Council to recover their costs in inspections and administration of the licences.
