Over 10,000 people attended the Strawberry Fair last Sunday, which this year also commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Held at King George’s Playing Fields, Brentwood’s annual fair brought the community together for a full day of activities and entertainment.
Visitors of all ages enjoyed live performances from the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band, local music acts, Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood and Stagecoach Performing Arts Brentwood, alongside walkaround entertainers, rides, the traditional Punch and Judy show, and a wide selection of food, drink, and charity stalls.
Following the Strawberry Fair, Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Jay Laplain, said: “What a truly wonderful day we’ve had at this year’s Strawberry Fair! It was heartwarming to see everyone come together in such great numbers to celebrate not only a cherished Brentwood tradition, but also the 80th anniversary of VE Day. From the vibrant performances to families enjoying the rides and attractions, the spirit of togetherness was felt throughout day. Community events like these are what makes living in Brentwood special and I would like to thank our sponsors, performers, volunteers and everybody who made this day happen.”
The event was made possible with support from Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood, Mullis and Peake LLP, Stagecoach Theatre School Brentwood, The National Lottery Community Fund and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
