Three of Brentwood's children have won a competition to design the Mayor of Brentwood’s Christmas card.
The Mayor, Councillor Gareth Barrett, launched the Christmas card and Christmas poem competition inviting children from across the Borough to embrace the festive spirit by submitting their best drawing for the front of the card and to write a poem for the message inside.
At a special assembly held at Larchwood and Willowbrook Primary School, the Mayor had the privilege of recognising the winners of the competition. The winners of the Christmas card design competition were 10-year-old Joshua from Willowbrook Primary School and 11-year-old Seb from Larchwood Primary School. The Christmas poem competition winner was 10-year-old Kendra also from Larchwood Primary School with her poem ‘My Christmas Wish’. They each received a certificate, copies of the winning Christmas card and a book. Kendra additionally had the honour of reciting her winning poem at the Mayor's Christmas Carol Service.
Mayor of Brentwood Councillor Gareth Barrett said, "The standards of the poems and pictures were excellent, and all the children did a really good job of capturing the spirit of Christmas. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who submitted their drawings and poems. Selecting the winners was a challenging task, but Joshua, Seb and Kendra truly encapsulated the essence of Christmas perfectly."

Every year children worldwide,
Wish for my gifts at Christmas time.
Although this holiday is filled with eagerness,
I only hope that you find happiness!
If I could make a wish for us all,
It would be for them to have happiness, hope & joy.
I would wish for them to have love & friendship too,
And for all the families out there to have a Christmas they will enjoy!
I wish that as the skies become dark,
And you will be on my nice list.
I wish that all humans (like me),
