Have your say on Brentwood Borough Council’s Budget and Priorities for 2026/2027

Date

Brentwood Borough Council is asking residents and local businesses to share their views on how money should be spent, raised, and invested in the year ahead.

Every year, the Council must agree a budget that balances the money available with the demand for services. Like many councils across the country, Brentwood is facing financial pressures, while demand for services continues to rise.

In 2025/26, the average Band D household in Brentwood pay £2,144.53 in Council Tax. However, only £217 of that goes directly to Brentwood Borough Council to help provide the services and support relied on by local people and businesses. The rest is shared with other organisations such as Essex County Council, the Police, and the Fire Service.

The Council is keen to hear residents’ views on:

  • How money should be spent.
  • Ways the Council might raise more income.
  • The level at which council tax should be set next year.
  • Which priorities in the Council’s Corporate Plan matter most to residents.

The Corporate Plan sets out the Council’s ambitions under three themes:

  • A Place to Call Home
  • Cleaner, Greener & Safer
  • A Thriving & Growing Economy

The survey is open now and runs until Sunday 26 October 2025.

Residents and businesses can complete the survey online by clicking here

Paper copies are also available from the Council’s reception at the Town Hall, Ingrave Road. Copies can also be requested by emailing enquiries@brentwood.gov.uk.

Feedback will be used by councillors when setting the budget and council tax for 2026/27, and in reviewing the Council’s Corporate Plan to ensure it reflects local priorities.
