Brentwood’s much-loved annual Strawberry Fair is back on Sunday 8 June from 12pm to 6pm at King George’s Playing Fields. This family-friendly event promises a day of celebration and this year; it holds special significance as it marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
To officially open the Strawberry Fair, 124 Essex Transport Squadron will lead a Freedom March from Brentwood Town Hall to the entrance of King George’s Playing Fields via Seven Arches Road, to pay tribute to the historic occasion.
The fair will offer a full programme of entertainment and activities for all ages, including live performances by Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood and Stagecoach Performing Arts Brentwood. Attendees can enjoy a number of free family-friendly attractions, along with thrilling rides, the timeless Punch and Judy show, and a wide variety of food and drink stalls. There will also be charity stalls, sporting demonstrations, and health and wellbeing activities taking place throughout the day.
Thanks go to our sponsors: Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood, Mullis and Peake LLP, Stagecoach Theatre School Brentwood, The National Lottery Community Fund and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for their generous support in making this event possible.
Councillor Dr Tim Barrett, Chair of Brentwood Borough Council’s Housing, Health & Community Committee, said: “The Strawberry Fair is a cherished tradition for Brentwood, and this year we are proud to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day as part of the celebrations. It’s a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to come together, reflect on our shared history and enjoy a fun and exciting day. We’re looking forward to a fantastic day filled with entertainment, heritage and local pride - there really will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
A ‘What’s On’ guide, including a full entertainment schedule and map of activities, will be displayed around the park. While free parking is available on-site, we encourage attendees to walk or cycle where possible to support our sustainability goals.
