Brentwood’s Family Fun Days return and are now bringing the fun to our High Streets

Date

Brentwood Borough Council, in collaboration with Brentwood Connected Business Improvement District (BID), is bringing back its popular Family Fun Days this August, this time with extra locations. In addition to our much-loved park events, this year’s programme will also bring the festivities to the heart of the borough’s High Streets, offering even more opportunities for families to come together and enjoy a vibrant mix of activities.

Spanning four fun-filled days across both parks and High Streets, families can take part in a variety of free and low-cost events designed to promote health, wellbeing and community spirit.

The Family Fun Day series begins on Friday 1 August, from 10:30am to 3:30pm at Warley Playing Fields, where children under 12 can enjoy unlimited access to a wide variety of activities with a £5 wristband. Families can look forward to sports, rides, crafts, Punch and Judy shows and health and wellbeing workshops. Additional attractions, such as face painting, will be available for a small fee. The final park-based event will take place on Friday 29 August at Hutton Recreation Ground, offering another opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a day of fun and community spirit.

New for this year, the celebrations will also extend to shopping areas with two High Street Family Fun Days. On Wednesday 6 August, Brentwood High Street will host a full day of activities from 10am to 4pm, followed by a second event on Wednesday 20 August along Hutton Road in Shenfield. These High Street events are free to attend and do not require a wristband. Visitors are encouraged to explore and support the many local businesses offering food, drinks and gifts throughout the day, adding a vibrant and festive atmosphere to the town centres.

Councillor Dr Tim Barrett, Chair of Brentwood Borough Council’s Housing, Health & Community Committee, said: “We’re thrilled to bring back our Family Fun Days this summer - bigger and better than ever! By teaming up with Brentwood Connected BID, we’re not only returning to our parks but also bringing the fun right to our High Streets. These events are a fantastic way for families to enjoy free and low-cost activities that promote health, wellbeing, and community spirit. From sports and crafts to healthy cooking demos and workshops, there’s something for everyone. We’re proud to work alongside local organisations, charities, and sports clubs to offer advice, support, and make a great day out for all.”

Sarah Walmsley, Brentwood Connected BID Manager said, “We’re pleased to be partnering with Brentwood Borough Council to bring family fun to the borough this summer.  We’ll be working with our businesses to deliver a series of free activities in Brentwood and Shenfield, encouraging visitors to eat, drink, shop and make use of services in our High Streets.  Brentwood Connected is also supporting the Crown Street Summer Party on Saturday 26 July and funding four events at The Baytree Shopping Centre in August, so there are plenty of ways to explore the area and support local this Summer.”

Special thanks to our generous sponsors, Razzamataz Theatre Schools, Mullis and Peake Solicitors and Stagecoach Performing Arts.
