Brentwood Borough Council launches consultation on new Economic Growth Strategy

Date

Brentwood Borough Council has refreshed its Economic Growth Strategy for 2025-2028 and invites you to participate in a consultation to help shape the future of our local economy. The updated draft strategy, agreed at the Finance & Resources Committee last month, reinforces the Council’s commitment to fostering a thriving business environment.

The strategy focuses on supporting start-ups, encouraging entrepreneurship to make Brentwood an attractive hub for new businesses, building a modern workforce by equipping it with skills for a contemporary economy, and promoting sustainability within the business community.

Aligned with the Council’s Corporate Plan 2024-2028, the strategy emphasises responsible growth, vibrant town centres, and nurturing local businesses while attracting inward investment.

A central element of the strategy is the support for start-ups and entrepreneurship, ensuring Brentwood remains a prime location for new businesses to establish and flourish. The draft Economic Growth Strategy and its comprehensive action plan will be continuously refined to meet the evolving needs of Brentwood’s business community and residents.

Cllr David Kendall, Chair of the Finance & Resources Committee, said: “This refreshed Economic Growth Strategy reaffirms our commitment to supporting start-ups and small businesses in Brentwood. I encourage everyone to take part in the consultation and share their insights and ideas. We want to create an environment where entrepreneurs feel empowered to take their first steps and where local businesses can thrive. By focusing on skills development and sustainability, we are laying the foundation for a strong, resilient and prosperous local economy. Our strategy is not just about growth, it’s about ensuring that every resident and business in Brentwood has the opportunity to succeed. That is why your feedback is crucial in shaping a strategy that truly meets the needs of our community.”

The consultation survey will be open from 16 April to 18 May 2025. Businesses are encouraged to provide feedback on the strategy and the associated action plan for 2025-2026 through the Council’s consultation portal: https://engagewithus.co.uk/bbc-economic-growth-strategy.
