Each year we deliver some fantastic events for the community. We have a range of great opportunities for those wishing to take part, including sponsorship, stalls, performers and volunteers.
Lighting Up Brentwood
Saturday 24 November 2018, 12.30pm-6pm, Brentwood High Street.
Lighting Up Brentwood is the largest community event on the Council’s calendar. The event around Brentwood High Street celebrates the start of the festive season. Much of the popularity of the event is down to the strong network of community organisations that are involved in providing activities along the length of the High Street, which is closed for the event. There are over 60 market stalls selling festive arts and crafts, and hot food and drink, together with Santa’s Grotto, walkabout acts and other children’s activities. There is a packed programme of performances on 3 stages, primarily by local schools and talented community performers. The event attracts a lot of attention from the local press and in 2018 we estimated over 15,000 people attended the event throughout the day with a packed switch-on by the Mayor.
With thanks to Churches Together in Brentwood, Brentwood Rotary Club, A Matter Group, the Baytree Centre, Chicken and Frog Bookshop, the Sugar Hut, St Thomas' Church, Conservators of Shenfield Common, Grace and Rose Estate Agents, Brentwood Community Transport and all the volunteers who helped to steward the event.
Stallholder applications are now CLOSED. Applications for stalls for Lighting Up Brentwood 2019 will open in March 2019.

Shenfield Christmas Fayre is a real community affair with lots of local business involvement and community groups. The main High Street (Hutton Road) will be closed for the event and will host over 60 festive stalls, family attractions, Santa’s Grotto, walk about acts and rides. 2017 saw an impressive snow globe, faux ice rink, large Italian market and piping band for all the family to enjoy. Last year, the event attracted an estimated 5,000 people.

Saturday 16 June 2018, 12noon-6pm,Shenfield Common, Brentwood.
The Strawberry Fair is a traditional, Summer community fair. There are community, craft and gift stalls and plenty of local food and drink, with the ever-popular Pimm’s bar, locally brewed beers, and plenty of strawberries and cream! The event is very popular and every year residents look forward to taking their family to the Fair for a great, affordable, local day out. A large big top provides a variety of live music and dance throughout the day. There is plenty for the kids to do, with small fairground rides and bouncy castles, together with other fun activities on offer. The event is free to enter and usually attracts around 5,000 people. It is always oversubscribed with traders wanting pitches and attracts a lot of press coverage.
Family Fun Days - Summer 2018
The Council provides an affordable family day out every Friday during the school Summer holidays, utilising the Council’s open spaces and working directly with local partners and community organisations. Family Fun Days have grown in huge popularity over the previous years, attracting up to 2,000 at an event. Thanks to our sponsors this year,Razzamataz, Comfy Beds and Brentwood Care Centre, families enjoyed bouncy castles, arts and craft activities, and come and try sports, along with other, free family-focussed fun provided by local organisations. Whilst the majority of activities were free there was a small charge for the bouncy castles, children’s rides and face painting. There were six Family Fun Days around the Borough, with a different location most weeks. The Family Fun Days provide a fantastic opportunity to promote your business Borough-wide to a range of families and attendees, over a number of weeks.
