Your views and needs are at the heart of everything we do.
That is why the Council consults with residents, businesses and other organisations, to ensure the decisions we make represent public opinion and are informed by what you tell us.
Brentwood Borough Council as part of its Leisure Strategy 2018-28 are looking at making some investment and improvements to the facilities in King George’s Playing Fields.
Two public consultation events have already taken place on the 14 and 23 March, seeking views on possible proposals for improvements to the park. The key areas are a proposed new pavilion building, new wet play offer and some proposed new outdoor adventure play.
An improvement plan is in place for the current play areas which will be delivered over the next 3 years.
A number of responses have already been received by the Council from the consultation events, providing valuable feedback on the proposals and the initial concepts of the designs.
It was proposed that an on-line public consultation would also allow those residents who were unable to visit the two previous public consultation events to provide feedback on the proposals.
Local Authority elections are taking place on 2 May 2019. During the pre-election ‘purdah’ period which runs from 26 March, the Council must take particular care to maintain political impartiality. This involves ensuring where practical that any consultation does not run through the pre-election period. Accordingly, the online consultation will go live on 3 May after the election, when residents will have the opportunity to submit any feedback they may have on the designs and concepts. The consultation will run until 19 May 2019.
This feedback will inform any further designs and options for the improvements which will be considered as part of the planning process.

Brentwood Town Centre Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order Consultation
Brentwood Borough Council with support from Essex Police sought to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to help address a range of issues that have been raised, in and around the Town Centre.
PSPOs were introduced in October 2014 by the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and are designed to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a particular area (a public space) that is detrimental to the local community's quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone.
Before implementing the proposed PSPO Brentwood Borough Council consulted with residents, businesses and organisations in the area and those who may be affected by the proposals to seek views and consider any alternative suggestions or amendments.
The final stage PSPO consultation ran from 17 May to 17 June 2018.
Further information is available on the Public Spaces Protection Order page.

Parking Strategy consultation
We’ve recently begun a process to update our strategy for managing Council-owned off-street car parking in Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone. We need to plan now for changes in future parking demand that will come from new development across the borough.
We’ve are gathering information to help us establish current levels of supply and demand for off-street parking in each of the three areas. We also want to engage with as many people as possible in order to build an accurate picture of the issues and opportunities for improving town centre car parking and ensuring they deliver the greatest positive impact for Brentwood.
The aim is to produce a parking strategy and action plan with clearly defined objectives for improving the management of car parking and to identify a range of measures and policies for achieving those objectives.

This is an interim consultation pending publication of further statutory guidance from the Gambling Commission, whereby it is proposed that the current policy be republished without amendments. This is because the guidance forms a key part of the policy but will not be published in time for the Council to fulfil its legal obligation to review the current policy by January 2016.
