LATEST NEWS

New rent being set - 21st January 2010

As the new financial year in April approaches we are working out the level of rent and service charges that our residents will be charged from 1 April 2010.

We are committed to consulting our tenants and leaseholders about the process.

We consulted our Tenant Talkback panel on 19 January and we have invited a group of residents who have been selected at random to consultation meetings where we can explain the process and discuss the new level of rents.

Two meetings have been arranged, one at the Council’s sheltered housing complex at Juniper Court, Beech Avenue, Brentwood CM13 2EL at 2.00pm on Wednesday 27th January, 2010, the second at 7.00pm on Thursday 28th January, 2010 at the sheltered housing complex at Chichester House, Sir Francis Way,  Brentwood, CM14 4TD.

If you are a tenant or leaseholder of the Council and you would like to attend either of these meetings, please telephone Robin Hill on 01277 312596 or e-mail him on robin.hill@brentwood.gov.uk to book a place.

A presentation is also scheduled to be given to the Health, Housing & Leisure Panel on Wednesday 5 February. Members of the public are welcome to attend, or you can watch the presentation on our webcast facility.

Have your say on the new Tenants Services Authority's Performance Framework - 21st January 2010

The Tenants Services Authority (TSA) is the new regulation body for all social housing in England (council and housing association).

The TSA wants to know what you think of the national standards it has drawn up for social housing landlords.

There are six new standards. The TSA intend that they should place a greater emphasis on the relationship between landlords and their tenants at the local level – one where tenants are at the heart of shaping, influencing and monitoring the services they receive.

The proposed new standards for social housing providers are the centrepiece of the TSA’s new regulatory framework. They describe the outcomes the TSA wants to see delivered and the specific requirements it expects all providers to comply with in meeting these outcomes. The TSA standards require us to set out what we offer to our tenants and set local standards that reflect the priorities of local communities.

As part of our customer focus we have consulted our Tenant Talkback panel on 19 January about the new TSA standards. A copy of our presentation is attached here

The TSA consultation is open until 5 February 2010. Click here for a link to the TSA’s consultation on its website.
