Welcome to Brentwood Online

Brentwood Council Leader Cllr Brandon Lewis sitting at deskIt’s now a year since Brentwood entered the historic partnership with the County Council designed to enhance council services for local people. Already we are seeing real benefits.

In the latest edition of Vision, you will find our consultation document about modernising the way the Council works by moving to executive model of decision making. This document is also available to complete online.

I should be grateful if as many people as possible would respond to this important consultation.

Cllr Brandon Lewis
Leader of the Brentwood Borough Council

Modernising your Council

Brentwood Borough Council is considering modernising the way it works by moving from the current traditional committee based system of decision making to an ‘executive model’. This approach is aimed at speeding up decision making, making it much clearer who is responsible for each decision and providing ways for holding decision makers to account.

The Council feels that this model of political management and decision making will be a vital part of its modernisation and transformation agenda, and an important mechanism to deliver effective and transparent decision making. Most top performing councils operate this system of working.
