Calling residents to join us or organise your own litter pick for the Great British Spring Clean

The environment belongs to everyone
Great British Spring Clean campaign runs from 15 to 31 March

This month, Brentwood Borough Council is joining Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, which is taking place from 15 March to 31 March.

Last year, volunteers around the country pledged to collect 400,000 bags of litter as part of Great British Spring Clean, and this year, we aim to continue this effort.

As Keep Britain Tidy marks its 70th year, communities across the country will unite to clean up streets, parks and beaches. We invite residents to join us at our Great British Spring Clean events. Simply come along to one or both of our events, and all necessary equipment will be provided. Just remember to wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Great British Spring Clean Events:

  • Merrymeade Country Park: Merrymeade Chase – Wednesday 20 March at 10am
  • Hare Hall Shaw: Brocksparkwood junction with Running Waters – Wednesday 27 March at 10am

Councillor Barry Aspinell, Leader of Brentwood Borough Council and Chair of the Clean and Green Committee said, “We are pleased to support the Great British Spring Clean this year. This campaign is not just about picking up litter; it's about coming together to show our dedication to our environment. Litter remains a persistent challenge, but through collective effort, we can make a difference.”

For residents interested in organising their own litter picks, kits including litter pickers, sacks, and gloves are available for collection from the Town Hall.

To arrange for the removal of collected waste, organisers can contact us at businesswaste@brentwood.gov.uk. Please include details such as the date, number of participants, and intended locations of the litter pick.
