Brentwood Borough Council
Brentwood Borough Council residents are invited to take part in the next round of consultation where they can give their views on the proposed Local Development Plan, which will identify sites for development over the coming 15 years.
At Full Council on January 17 it was agreed that residents and businesses will receive a letter outlining how to take part in the latest stage of the Local Development Plan.
Leader, Cllr Louise McKinlay said: “This is the time for everyone to express their views on the range of sites that are being put forward at this point. We are still at the stage where we are gathering the required evidence so this is not about giving actual planning permission for development to go ahead. However, it is about allowing democracy to take place so that residents can see the huge raft of work involved and express their opinions in a transparent and effective way.”
The consultation period starts on Monday January 29 with residents and businesses being sent letters direct outlining how to take part. The consultation will last six weeks with documents available at Seven Arches Road, online and by post if so required.
Cllr McKinlay added: “We do not have all the answers and this is a continual process that will be decided on later this year. At that point all the evidence goes before a Planning Inspector including the feedback from residents both for and against. So I would very much urge residents to make their views known through the process in order for their opinions to be considered. We need to deliver housing for our children and parents over the long term within a context that grows communities. Time does not stand still and we will make sure the right plan is delivered – but to do that it’s vital we get everyones’ views.”
The latest stage in the LDP is known as Regulation 18 Consultation and the current draft document covers reports on economic growth, educational needs, residential site proposals, health and doctor surgery capacity and building employment opportunities. ……..(cont..)
The draft includes forecasts on Brentwood’s growths and needs together with a number of statutory reports that have to be threaded through the overall plan. Once this part of the consultation is concluded the plan should be adopted late summer next year (2019).
The LDP draft document can be found at www.brentwood.gov.uk/localplan
Further details on the actual consultation document will be outlined on the website, social media and in residents letters over the coming weeks.
