Bulky Waste Collections

Collection service for old, unusable items of furniture and other items.

Electrical Appliances

Electrical items, such as fridge freezers and washing machines are collected by LFP Bulky Waste. Non-electrical items are collected by the Council (see below) Please contact LFP Bulky Waste direct to arrange a collection for electrical items:

Reuse

Lighthouse Furniture Project Ltd are a not for profit Social Enterprise and Registered Charity that provides good quality furniture and household items to those on low incomes. They are able to do this by receiving and collecting furniture and other items generously given by local people.

Other Bulky Waste Items

To arrange for the Council to collect a bulky waste item (for electrical appliances, please see above) complete our online Book a Bulky Waste Collection form.

The charges are £11 per item with a minimum charge of £22.

Collections are held on Tuesdays.  When booking you will have the option of selecting the first date that is available. Please note collections may be delayed when there is a public holiday. Brentwood Borough Council cannot be held responsible for items being collected by a third party in advance of your special collection.

All items can be only collected from a visible location outside the property and must be put out by 7.30am. Items will be collected any time between 7:30am to 3:00pm.

Please be mindful when placing porous items such as sofas and mattresses outside prior to the day of collection as items may be too heavy to collect if waterlogged.

We are unable to collect the following items:

  • American or industrial fridge/freezers
  • Paint
  • Asbestos
  • Pianos
  • Garden sheds/ Green Houses
  • Garden Waste
  • Gas Canisters
  • Boilers
  • Storage Heaters
  • Chemicals
  • Construction and Trade Waste/ Hardcore
  • Surf boards
  • Motorised treadmills
  • Mirrors/ windows/ glass cabinets
  • Table Tennis tables

How to Cancel a Collection

To cancel or rearrange a Council Bulky Waste collection please complete our online Re-book/Cancel a Bulky Waste Collection form.

A refund for the total amount paid will be made for cancellations that give 24hrs notice or more prior to 7:30am on the scheduled collection day.  Please note cancellations made with less than 24hrs notice will incur an £11.00 admin fee.

Civic Amenity/Recycling Centres

The local Civic Amenity/Recycling Centres will accept your bulky items free of charge. Further information is available on the Recycle for Essex website or contact their Waste Helpline on 0345 603 7625.
