Brentwood Centre FAQs

Please Note: Due to National Lockdown restrictions the Brentwood Centre is closed for leisure purposes, but remains open for vaccinations.

 

The Brentwood Centre opened on 5 December and is a phased re-opening so not all facilities or activities are initially available. Customers are encouraged to wear face masks when in the communal areas of the building. Please note that currently only card payments can be accepted.

Please note: Due to Brentwood moving to Tier 3 restrictions on Wednesday 16 December group exercise will not be available and the 3G pitch will be open for supervised under 18's only.

How to book an activity

To pre-book and pay for an activity online please use the link below.  Please note that you will be required to create a Brentwood Leisure Centre membership account before you can proceed to make your booking.  You will not be charged for this, but you will be required to pay for the activity when you make your booking, so please have your credit/debit card details to hand.

Once you have created a membership account you will be emailed details of how to log on and pre-book further activities at the Centre in the future.

Memberships

I paid up front for an annual membership will this be honoured?

The Council is currently reviewing the situation please contact memberships@brentwoodactivities.co.uk for further information.

Can I get a refund on my membership because the Brentwood Centre was closed?

The Council is currently reviewing the situation please contact memberships@brentwoodactivities.co.uk for further information.

Will any existing credits be honoured?

You will be required to provide proof of purchase and claims will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the Borough Council as a gesture of goodwill.  For credits not  honoured as a goodwill gesture, then the claim will be against the Brentwood Leisure Trust and you will need to contact the Liquidators’ staff who will invite you to complete a claim form which, provided the claim is agreed, will be paid in proportion with other creditors should funds become available (contact details are below).  If you paid over £100 in full or in part by credit card it might be possible to seek a refund from your card provider and you may wish to contact your card provider in this regard.

Only some of the facilities are open so will I be compensated?

The Council will offer a reduced membership fee which will reflect the provision available in Phase 1 of the re-opening. Please contact memberships@brentwoodactivities.co.uk for further information.

 

Swimming & Swim Scheme

I want a refund for lessons I have already paid for how can I get this?

Brentwood Leisure Trust has gone into liquidation so you will need to contact the Liquidators’ staff who will invite you to complete a claim form which, provided the claim is agreed, will be paid in proportion with other creditors should funds become available (contact details are below).  If you paid over £100 in full or in part by credit card it might be possible to seek a refund from your card provider and you may wish to contact your card provider in this regard. When will swimming lessons re-commence? 

Swimming lessons will be available to book from Monday 21st December. For more details contact swimming@brentwoodactivities.co.uk

Will it be the same scheme with the same classes and teachers?

Yes, when the swim scheme is open for booking it will be the same scheme that was previously run at the Brentwood Centre to ensure some consistency. For more information please contact swimming@brentwoodactivities.co.uk 

Can I enrol my child for swimming lessons? 

You will be able to enrol your child online via the new booking system from Monday 21st December. For further information please contact swimming@brentwoodactivities.co.uk

Will there be an adult only time?

No there are not any specified adult only times.

Will more lane swimming be available once the lessons are back?

Yes, the plan is to commence the swimming lessons in January and details of when you can book will be provided in due course.

What are the opening hours?

The initial hours that the Brentwood Centre swimming pool will be open will be 6am – 11am and 4pm until 9pm Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday 8am until 1pm. For more details contact enquiries@brentwoodactivities.co.uk   

We used to be able to borrow equipment such as floats can I still do that?

Yes, you will still be able to do that.  

How many people can book into each lane?

Due to the COVID restrictions for laned swimming there will only be 3 lanes in operation and the capacity for each lane will be 10 people per hour.  

I don’t want to swim in a lane as I want to just do my own thing is that still ok?

Yes, there will be some public swimming sessions that will be available. Please see above for details of how to book.

Will the changing rooms be open?

In regard to the swimming changing rooms we would ask customers to follow the COVID restrictions in place and follow the directional signage. We would encourage customers to social distance while in changing rooms and they are requested to come beach ready and leave their clothes poolside during their swim. They will then change in the changing village and leave by the appointed exit.  (Please see below regarding changing rooms for gym users)

 

Events

How do I get a refund for a ticket I have purchased?

You will need to contact the ticket agency that you purchased the tickets from.

Are there plans to hold events in the future?

Due to the current COVID restrictions we will be aiming to commence holding events in Easter, but this will be subject to the latest Government guidance and advice. Please contact events@brentwoodactivities.co.uk for further information.

 

Gym

The gym will be temporarily located within the International Hall and as such it will be a 50- station gym.  Please see above for details of how to book. 

What are the opening hours?

The opening hours of the gym will be 6.45am – 10.45am and then 3.45 until 8.45pm, On Saturday and Sunday 7.45 until 12.45pm.

Will I need to have another gym induction?

If you have previously been a member of the Brentwood Centre we would ask you to come to the reception first to talk to the Front of House to discuss whether you will need an induction or not. Please contact enquiries@brentwoodactivities.co.uk

I haven’t been to the gym for a while can I get a refresh on the equipment and a programme made?

Yes, there will be staff on hand to support and advise you to ensure you are using the gym equipment correctly. For more details contact fitness@brentwoodactivities.co.uk

What hours can children use the gym?

In Phase 1 of the re-opening the gym will be available to adults only. It is planned that future sessions for 11 -16year olds supervised by a qualified gym instructor will be made available.

Will lockers be available?

Due to the COVID restrictions lockers will not be available for gym users.  

The changing rooms are currently shut so where can I change and shower?

Due to the COVID restriction the gym changing rooms are not available so we would encourage people to come ready changed and leave without showering.

 

Miscellaneous

What time will the sports hall be open?

The sports hall will be open 8.05-11.05am and 4.05 – 9.05pm Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday 8.05 – 1.05pm

I am missing a piece of lost property can I get it back?

Should your property have been lost by the Brentwood Leisure Trust you can contact the Liquidators’ staff who will invite you to complete a claim form which, provided the claim is agreed, will be paid in proportion with other creditors should funds become available (contact details are below).

Will the cafe be open?

The cafe will not be open on the first phase of reopening. We will update you when this will be reopened.    

Is the chat 1st project re-commencing?

Can I book a badminton court or play squash?

There will be limited opening of the Brentwood Centre. Currently this is not available, but the Council is in the process of reviewing all the services at the Centre.   

Are there plans to hold the classes and clubs previously held at the centre?

Under the Phase 1 re-opening these will not be available, but the Council is reviewing all the services at the Centre and will advise when this provision will be available.
