The Great British Spring Clean
2nd to 4th March 2018
The Great British Spring Clean is a Keep Britain Tidy campaign with a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches. Keep Britain Tidy want to inspire 500,000 people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up the rubbish that lies around us. Together we can make a difference and clean up the environment on our doorstep. We have detailed below events planned by officers from The Depot to support this National Campaign, and ways in which you can support the events.
Firstly our Neighbourhood Action Team will be litter picking local hot spots each day throughout various locations within the Borough (Monday 5th March to Friday 9th March 2018) as part of this campaign.
Wednesday 7th March 2018 - Chance to join our Countryside Volunteers on their volunteer day (they meet up every Wednesday to undertake conservation tasks throughout the Borough), at Shenfield Common, to litter pick throughout the woodland and undertake the cutting back of invasive species to allow clear view into woodland. If interested in joining this event (between 10am to 3pm) please meet in the car park in King Georges park (near Cafe) at 9.45am wearing suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes or boots and bring a packed lunch (hot drinks provided).
