Brentwood Borough Council will be running new food hygiene courses from January for people who have food businesses and would like to ensure their staff are well prepared.
The one-day sessions will give participants a Level 2 Award in Food Safety (Catering). The first course takes place on Wednesday 31 January at Merrymeade House, Merrymeade Chase Brentwood, CM15 9BG, from 9.15am to 5pm.
It aims to assist caterers or those who are starting new food businesses to prepare food safely and provides up to date information on food hygiene.
The course will cover:
Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Environment and Enforcement Committee, Councillor Keith Parker, said: “These courses are beneficial for those who are starting a new food business and want to receive the most up to date food hygiene information.
Anyone who works with food is responsible for safeguarding the health of their customers and ensuring their food is safe to eat. Increasing numbers of people suffer allergic reactions every year from ingesting allergens in food. This number could be reduced if those who are involved in producing, preparing and serving the food are aware of the risks to customers.”
