Press Release

Date: 6 November 2017

This year’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service will be taking place in Brentwood on Sunday 12 November.

Residents are invited to help Brentwood commemorate on Remembrance Day all those who sacrificed their lives for their country. The parade will assemble in Library Square, Brentwood School, from 10am and they will make their way to the War Memorial accompanied by the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band from 10.35am. This will be followed by a service conducted by Canon Phillip Need, acting vicar at St Thomas’ Church, and the Bishop of Brentwood Rev Alan Williams, from Brentwood Cathedral, at about 10.50am and the wreath laying will take place.

There will be a two-minute silence at 11am, after which the parade will leave the War Memorial and go towards the High Street via Shenfield Road.

A march past and salute will be taken by Lord Lieutenant, Jennifer Tolhurst, accompanied by the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Will Russell, and the President of the Brentwood Royal British Legion Brian Kitchener in the High Street.

This will be followed by a Service of Remembrance in St Thomas’ Church at 11.30am.

Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Will Russell, said: “We must never forget those who have fought and given their lives for our country. I am proud that we are continuing our tradition of commemorating Remembrance Day in Brentwood and invite residents to join us on Sunday to show their support for the Armed Forces past and present, pay their respects and honour those who are serving today.”
