A new event will take place next week to show what services are on offer for older people in Brentwood.
Brentwood Borough Council are hosting the 'Services for the Seniors' event to offer the chance for older people, carers and family members to find out more about the local organisations and the services they offer in one place at the same time.
The FREE event will take place on Thursday 16th February, from 11am-3pm, at Hutton Community Centre, Harrison Close, Hutton, CM13 1LR.
There will be more than 30 different services attending and will include Alzheimer's Society, Home Instead Senior Care, Age UK Essex, Neighbourhood Watch, Mind, Family Mosaic, and Hutton Community Centre 50+ Social Club.
Brentwood Borough Council's Chair of the Community, Health and Leisure Committee, Councillor Keith Parker, said: "This is the first time we are hosting an event like this and it is the ideal opportunity to get information about a range of services as they will all be in one place.
We are encouraging older people, carers and their family members to come along and see what is available. There will be representatives from many local organisations available who will be able to give advice and answer questions whether it be about joining a social group, getting advice or arranging help for a family member or a friend."
At the event you can also find out about the Council’s Emergency Community Alarm Service, which is suitable for older people who live with a partner or alone; people living with medical conditions, learning difficulties or mobility problems, enabling them to live independently; people who may feel vulnerable due to living in a remote location; or anyone who feels at risk from domestic or neighbourhood abuse.
Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Environment and Housing Management Committee, Councillor Chris Hossack, said: “Our Housing staff will be able to offer advice on our Community Alarm Service, which provides 24-hour reassurance and peace of mind for many of Brentwood’s most vulnerable residents. You can come along to the event to find out about it for yourself or your loved ones. The service allows you to remain independent in your own home for as long as possible.”
