Brentwood Borough Council is now flying a special flag to show the Borough’s support for the UK’s Armed Forces. This marks the build up to the annual Armed Forces Day which Brentwood will celebrate on Sunday 27 June 2010.
Like hundreds of local authorities across the country, Brentwood Borough Council raised the Armed Forces Day Flag outside the Town Hall on Monday 21 June 2010. This was attended by dignitaries including the Mayor or Brentwood, Cllr David Tee, who raised the flag and said a few words plus members of Brentwood Borough Council.
Cllr Louise McKinlay, Leader of Brentwood Borough Councilsaid:
"I’m delighted that Brentwood as a Borough joined in with the rest of the country to observe this important annual event. We hope that by showing that communities are supporting the Armed Forces it will give them a much needed boost. It also pays tribute to the huge personal sacrifices that the troops make to defend our country, past and present.
“Brentwood continues to celebrate Armed Forces Day at Strawberry Fair which takes place on Sunday 27 June on Shenfield Common at 1pm. There will be all the usual attractions, plus military vehicles and the fair will conclude in a commemorative ‘Beat and Retreat’ by the Royal British Legion."
