Getting into the Festive Spirit

The lighting up of Brentwood’s Christmas lights will take place on 28th November and promises to be a fun filled family day.

This year’s Christmas lighting up event have a, community spirit focus aimed at the family audience.  There will be traditional types of street entertainers for the children, including balloon modelling, stilt walkers and mime artists, as well as a small number of food outlets. The Council is also exploring the possibility of having a market made up of local retailers in order to support the ‘Keep Trade Local’ initiative.

The event will start at 1pm in the High Street and finishes at 5.30pm, during which time the High Street will be closed to all traffic. The Mayor of Brentwood, Cllr. Tony Sleep, will switch the Christmas lights on at 4.45pm.

The Chairman of Health, Housing and Leisure Panel, Cllr Karen Sheehan said, “This years’ event will be focused on the family audience. It will be a traditional event to officially launch Brentwood and its residents into the festive season. It will be great to see as many of our families attend this fun occasion as possible and is perfectly timed for the completion of the new High Street.”
