The key functions of Planning Services are:
- Development Control - involving the processing of applications and appeals, the provision of pre-application advice and the enforcement of Planning controls
- Policy and Implementation - the preparation of the Local Development Framework and input into the Regional Plan
These pages aim to provide Service users with a comprehensive and user-friendly guide to Planning in Brentwood and we would welcome any suggestions as to how the content or design could be improved.
Planning Pre-Application Advice
From 4th May 2010 we are introducing a new Planning Pre-Application Advice Scheme. For specific advice on development proposals you will now be required to make an appointment with a Planning Officer for which a fee may be required (please note the Council will continue to provide a Duty Officer drop-in service which will provide free general advice and guidance to Local Residents on the need for planning permission, relevant policies and how to make an application).

Planning News:
As from 10 August 2006, there is a compulsory requirement to submit a Design and Access Statement with certain planning and listed building consent applications. More information on Design and Access Statements
Please also note that as from 10 August 2006, changes are to be made to outline planning applications. In making such an application, the reserved matters will now comprise layout, scale, appearance, access and landscaping. More information on changes.
