Why walk for health?
As well as giving you more energy, regular walking can make you feel and sleep better, reduce your levels of stress, keep your heart strong, reduce blood pressure and manage your weight.
Choose from one of three types of Health walk to suit your time schedule and capability.
Each walk has at least two trained leaders, which means you can walk at a pace that suits you. Walking is a free and easy way to better health, it's a safe and simple way to meet new people and make friends.
So go on, join in and get on trax!
Mini Trax - 30 minutes brisk pace
Lunchtime Walk - Every Thursday, meet outside front of Town Hall, Ingrave Road, under the clock at 12:30pm. Walk will last approximately 30-45 mins. Please wear comfortable shoes i.e. trainers.
Intermediate Trax - 1 hour slightly slower pace with the option to step out.
Tuesday in Brentwood - walks will begin every Tuesday from King George's Playing Fields, commencing at 11am from the car park off Ingrave Road. Then follows paths in Hartswood and nearby woodlands.
Wednesday in Doddinghurst - a walk will be held every Wednesday from Doddinghurst Village Hall at 10 am. The walk follows paths in the countryside.
Thursday in Blackmore - a walk will be held every Thursday from Blackmore village hall at 10:30am. The walk will follow footpaths and bridleways around the village.
Stepping Out Trax - 1- 2 hours various paces
These Thursday walks let you step out at your own speed. The walk lasts for about 1-2 hours, and will be at a brisker pace.
Thursday in Thorndon Country Park - continue past the Countryside Centre and meet at 11 am on Childerditch Common.
Thursday in Mill Green - Please note that these routes may take you over stiles. Meet in the car park opposite the Cricketers Pub on Mill Green Road a 11am.
Thursday in Weald Country Park - These walks will be led every third Thursday from the White Horse Pub at 11 am.
