Recycling Centres for Household Waste (Civic Amenities)
Essex County Council is responsible for the running of the Recycling Centres for Household Waste at;
Coxtie Green Road, Pilgrims Hatch – CM14 5PN
Roman Road, Mountnessing – CM4 4AA
Mill Lane, High Ongar – CM5 9RH
Opening hours:
Open seven days a week
- 8am - 5pm 1st March - 15th October
- 8am - 4pm 16th October - end February
Extended Opening Hours* Sites are open until 7pm on Tuesdays evenings only between 1st May - 31 August.
Closures: Half day Christmas Eve and all day Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day
Additional Information
- The height barrier is 1.95m and is raised on Sundays from midday.
- The centres will only accept domestic waste. (not commercial waste)
The Centre at Coxtie Green Road, Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood will take:
- cans
- car batteries
- cooking oil
- engine oil
- cardboard
- glass containers
- green garden waste
- household appliances
- metal
- paper
- plastic bottles
- textiles
- hardcore
- soil
Important Note: In order to have access to the facilities at Coxtie Green Road, you must take proof of Essex Residency, otherwise you will be liable to a £3 charge. Evidence such as a Council Tax bill will suffice.
The Centre at Roman Road, Mountnessing, will take all of the above with the exception of hardcore and soil.
