Weddings and Ceremonies at the Town Hall
Brentwood Town Hall provides a memorable setting for your wedding or civil partnership ceremony.
Ceremonies are available at the Town Hall between 10am and 5pm Wednesday to Friday and 10am-12noon on Saturdays.
Please be aware that the Town Hall will undertake a refurbishment programme from the 31st August 2017. Booking enquiries for weddings will be accepted up to this date. Further information will be made available as soon as possible for bookings beyond this date.
Ceremony rooms at the Town Hall
The Civic Suite is tastefully decorated with contemporary furnishings. From the large and impressive Council Chamber to the more intimate surroundings of the Committee Rooms, there's a choice of two rooms, each offering something a little different.
- The Committee Rooms - With a feature fireplace and tasteful décor, these attractive rooms can accommodate up to 40 guests.
- The Council Chamber - This grand room is filled with an atmosphere of history and tradition and features wooden panelling and vast windows to the double-heighted chamber. It can accommodate larger parties of up to 70 guests, with further seating in the gallery.
Both rooms offer a sound system to provide a musical accompaniment to the ceremony.

Booking a ceremony
Step 1 - Telephone 01277 312736 to check availability.
Step 2 - Once we have confirmed provisional availability, you must contact Essex Registration Service on 0345 603 7632 to book a registrar to attend and perform the ceremony.
A £50 non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking the registrar. The remaining balance must be paid at least 12 weeks before the date of the ceremony and it includes one copy of your marriage/civil partnership certificate. If a booking is made less than 8 weeks before the ceremony, full payment is required at the time of booking. Essex Registration Service will take receipt of all fees for ceremonies held at Brentwood Town Hall.
Step 3 - You must also give notice of your intention to marriage/civil partnership at least 28 days before your ceremony. Please contact Essex County Council to book an appointment. The fee for giving notice is £35 each.
Please Note: All payments for ceremonies held at Brentwood Town Hall are made to the Essex Registration Service and will not be accepted by Brentwood Borough Council.

Cancelling a ceremony
To cancel a ceremony booking, please contact Essex Registration Service on 0345 603 7632.
If you wish to cancel your booking prior to giving notice of marriage/civil partnership, your £50 deposit will not be refunded. Ceremonies cancelled 56 days or more before the date of the ceremony will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 50% of the ceremony fee. If you cancel fewer than 56 days before the ceremony date or fail to cancel in writing to Essex Registration Service, no refund will be paid.
There's some pay and display parking at the Town Hall, Ingrave Road, which is conveniently placed for access to the High Street, offering restaurants and additional parking (see Parking pages for more information).
There is disabled access into both ceremony rooms and waiting areas. Disabled access is by the main doors at the front of the Town Hall.
After the ceremony, you will find a beautiful staircase or nearby Shenfield Common, with its scenic wooded areas and pond. Both make an ideal spot for photographs.
Is confetti allowed?
Confetti outside is permitted as long as the green doors are closed and access to the building is not restricted.
