Parish Councils

Elections to Parish Councils are scheduled every four years but only take place if the number of candidates nominated in each parish is greater than the number of vacant seats.

The following parishes were due to hold elections in 2020:

  • Blackmore, Hook End and Wyatts Green
  • Doddinghurst

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Government has announced that local elections scheduled for May 2020 will be postponed until 2021.

The next scheduled elections in the remaining seven parishes are due to be held in 2023.

From time to time, casual vacancies can occur on Parish Councils. These can be filled by a process of co-option if no election is called. Find out more by contacting your Parish Clerk.
