Selling to the Council
Brentwood Borough Council spends thousands of pounds each year on a wide range of products, services and works programmes. This represents some significant opportunities for organisations across all sectors.
The Procurement Agency for Essex (PAE) has developed an online guide entitled Selling to the Essex Public Sector for organisations that wish to sell to its members. The guide outlines the rules, regulations and requirements for organisations that wish to sell to its members. As a PAE member, Brentwood Borough Council recommends that any organisation that wishes to sell to the Council to read this guide in addition to the information provided on this site.

Brentwood Borough Council operates the BACS payments system.
Procurement Code of Conduct
All public sector employees must abide by a Procurement Code of Conduct. Employees must declare their interests in existing or potential suppliers, and say if the connection is a private, social, domestic or professional one. This applies to Members of the Council who are governed by a strict code of conduct. Brentwood Borough Council complies fully with the PAR Procurement Code of Conduct.

Payments to Suppliers
As an existing or potential supplier to the Council, we would like to offer you the opportunity to be paid easily and conveniently for your services via BACS, the bank automated clearing service.
By providing your Bank Account details, this will enable us to remit payment in respect of your invoices directly into your chosen designated account.
The benefits to both yourself and the Council of being paid via BACS are clear:
- Payments are securely and conveniently paid directly into your Bank Account without the risks of cheques being delayed or going astray in the post.
- Cleared funds are available on the day you are paid unlike the time delay associated with cheques.
- You will receive a Remittance Advice either by e-mail, fax or by post on the day the invoice is passed, notifying you when the payment will reach your bank account.
- Accounting procedures on both sides are simplified and administrative costs are reduced.
