Brentwood Academy Club
The Academy Club Scheme is NOW open for clubs to apply, application forms will be accepted until the end of August 2010.
The scheme now has a 2 tier scheme, allowing smaller developing sports clubs to apply for the silver tier. To download an application form click here
Brentwood Academy Club application Guidance Notes
Gold Tier
Answers must be positive (yes/agree) and full details of the club and its achievements must be provided.
Gold Tier – award
£500 grant: £250 at the start of the year (October) and £250 in April on completion of an evaluation.
Up to 5 half price sportessex club courses (first aid, safeguarding, etc).
Silver Tier
Answers must be positive however questions 5 – 8 may not be yes in all cases. If you answer no to some of the questions, please provide an explanation (in the description of your club section) to how you are developing the club. Also provide details of the highest performer/ team, etc, and how you are working towards accreditations (if applicable).
Silver Tier - award
£100 grant in October.
Up to 5 half price sportessex club courses (first aid, safeguarding, etc).
For all:
All clubs will be informed to whether their application is successful or not by September 4th 2010.
Successful clubs will be expected to attend the awards ceremony on Thursday 21st October at Ashwells Sports and Country Club at 7.30pm to collect their award.

The Brentwood Academy Club scheme has been set up by Brentwood Borough Council to offer financial support to local sport and leisure clubs to assist in the development of young sporting talent.
2009- 10 Academy Clubs are as follows:
- Brentwood Academy Volleyball Club
- Brentwood Cricket Club
- Brentwood Hockey Club
- Brentwood Rugby Football Club
- Brentwood Swimming Club
- Brentwood Trampoline Club
- Champions Academy (basketball)
- Glendene Cycle Club
- Hutton Football Club
- RecoilTwisters (Trampoline Club)
- Brentwood Youth (Boxing)
- Kime Ki Martial Arts

Clubs are invited to apply for a grant (in August 2010) which will be awarded to them providing they fulfil the following criteria:
The Club must:
- Be based in Brentwood
- Be solely for young people or have an official junior section
- Have an established coaching and instruction programme in place
- Comply with government legislation in relation to coaching young people and relevant provision under the Children's Act (2004)
- Aspire to excellence
- Have members who can demonstrate Olympic potential
- Acknowledge the support given by Brentwood Borough Council
- Have Clubmark accreditation or can demonstrate working towards the Clubmark (or National Governing body equivalent)
- Be able to fulfil the following responsibilities once accepted as an academy club:
As an academy club you will be expected to:
- Continue towards excellence
- Continue to demonstrate good standards of operations as a club
- To provide a discount (at least 50%) to the Activebrentwood project – the L2A card (for people who claim benefits)
- To attend the Academy Club Meetings and events (including the sports awards)
- To nominate for the Activebrentwood Sports Awards
In addition to financial support, Brentwood Borough Council will provide successful applicants with the following benefits:
