A number of local authorities are undertaking energy efficiency and insulation improvements to housing stock under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. This scheme is now subj ect to a number of changes by the Department for Energy and Climate Change. Unde r the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please provide me with the following reg arding :
(a) whether you are currently undertaking, or have any plans to undertake, en ergy efficiency or insulation work under the ECO scheme and, if so:
(b) how many households were planned to received measures,
(c) how many measures were planned to be installed,
(d) when the work was due to start,
(e) if the work is (i) going ahead as planned, (ii) has been revised and if s o what revisions have been made to the original plan of work, (iii) has been put on hold and (iv) has been cancelled.
Brentwood Borough Council Housing Department has not undertaken any ECO work so far. Officers are currently considering options for 2014/15 (this is for the financial year from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015). We are in the process of reviewing funding options and considering which homes could benefit. A decision on funding provision will be made by the full Council in March 2014.
We are also in the process of appointing new contractors to undertake maintenance and major improvement works. The new contracts start on 1 June 2014. The Council would wish to work with these contractors to identify suitable properties. If funding is identified, it is unlikely that a clear program of works will emerge until the Summer at the earliest.
