Response

1. The Council has not, since January 2010, contacted the coroner regarding a death with no known next of kin; the coroner would contact the Council.
2. Yes the coroner contacts the Council when a death occurs within the Borough where there is no known next of kin. We are unable to give details of the coroner, as we do not keep this information, and would vary depending as to which hospital and what coroner is on duty at the time.
3. This would be dealt with in house, by the environmental health department by which ever Environmental Health Officer in on duty.
4. The Council is not listed to our knowledge.
5. Since 1st January 2010 the Council, at that time the Cemeteries Department, has sent details about public health burials.
6. Since 1st January 2010 the following public health burials have occurred;

Kenneth Brace, Date of Death 09/01/2010, last known address 14 Chase Road Brentwood CM14 4LG, no family found.

Dennis Wendon Rookard, Date of Death 03/03/2010, last known address 15 Fairfield Road, Brentwood, no family found.

The name of the coroner or Council staff that tried to locate relatives in these cases is now unknown.

7. The Council does not submit information to the Land Registry.
