How many applications under the prior approval/notification procedure your authority has received for changes of use of buildings from office to residential without the need for planning consent since 31st May 2013.
See below for explanation and background information on this request.
Please would you provide me with the number of requests to use the permitted development rights to change from office to residential (if any) by way of a reply to this email within 20 working days.
On 31st May 2013, the government introduced a permitted development to allow a building change of use from office to residential without the need for planning permission as set out in Class J of Part 3, Schedule 3 of the Town & Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995.
In order to benefit from the right, applicants must apply to the local planning authority using the 'prior notification/approval' procedure for a determination as to whether the prior approval of the local authority will be required as to:
a) transport and highways impact of the development;
b) contamination risks on the site;
c) flooding risks on the site.
In response to your Freedom of Information Request No.7622 I can advise that Brentwood Borough Council have received two applications, submitted under the prior approval/notification procedure relating to changes of use of buildings from office to residential without the need for planning consent, since 31st May, 2013.
