Filming or Recording Council Meetings

Request

Does your council permit (a) filming, (b) audio recording or (c) tweeting from (i) council meetings, (ii) cabinet meetings or (iii) committee meetings by members of the public?

Does your council broadcast any of the above meetings online or record them and allow streamed playback?

Do you provide wireless internet in the Council chamber?

Response

Does your council permit (a) filming, (b) audio recording or (c) tweeting from (i) council meetings, (ii) cabinet meetings or (iii) committee meetings by members of the public?

The constitution does not permit members of the public to film or audio record council meetings or committee meetings (we do not have a cabinet system). People are asked to switch off mobile phones in advance so not to disturb meetings but tweeting does seem to happen.

Does your council broadcast any of the above meetings online or record them and allow streamed playback?

The Council broadcasts all of its meetings both through live broadcast online and streamed playback through the Council website.

Do you provide wireless internet in the Council chamber?
All Councillors have access to wireless internet in the chamber but the public do not. Press access would be allowed if requested but they mostly just monitor through the live webcast rather that attend meetings.
