Tender process for Hutton Community Centre fencing

Request

I have just learned that the tendering process for the fencing at Hutton Community Centre was carried out by telephone.

Run that by me again??????? Telephone!!!!!
Surely nothing so outrageous and undercover took place - DID it?

Anyone with any common sense would realise this is plain wrong. It leaves no trail. It cannot even be following Conservative Party principles /rules can it?

Who was involved in those phone calls and when?
Which firms were unsuccessful? Please supply their contact details. I would like to tell them, if they do not know.
(How did they feel when they knew that a local councillor drummed up a case for the need for fencing, and got the contract and that telephone tendering /bidding took place?)

As a council tenant it repulses me that someone who had power over Council Tenants and their fate, (including me) & deliberately maligned them (very upsetting) to prepare the ground for draconian measures, (FTTs, bedroom tax, etc.) also deliberately prepared the ground for a contract that would benefit his pocket. It is calculating, cynical, dishonest and ruthless.

And STINKS.

Please supply us with a recording or transcript of any such phone calls in the interests of the "transparency" that Brentwood Council harps on about when it suits them.

Who is the supplier of 'phone lines at Brentwood Borough Council?
Maybe we should ask them to check out their call records.

Re: the £165,000 "found"; for the project - where did this money come from?

In the Brentwood Weekly News (March 28) - why does Louise McKinlay (Page 3) concern herself with the internal matters of the opposition - what's that got to do with anything?
It is a blatant desperate clumsy TRANSPARENT distraction from the REAL issues and from the rottenness within the council administration.
Why would opposition members approach her?

Response

It was a quotation exercise in accordance with Council requirements. The Council received one written quote from ‘Just Fencing’ then obtained quotes from a further two companies, Process Installations (Keith Parker’s company) and R T Iley who also submitted written quotations. The Council also received verbal quotes from Acorn Fencing and Hutton Fencing. Process Installations were the lowest quote by some margin.

Surely nothing so outrageous and undercover took place - DID it? There is nothing which is out of the ordinary in terms of process used.

Who was involved in those phone calls and when? The Council officer concerned was Mr Reader and the names of suppliers are shown above.

Which firms were unsuccessful? Please supply their contact details. I would like to tell them, if they do not know. The other companies will be aware that they were unsuccessful (How did they feel when they knew that a local councillor drummed up a case for the need for fencing, and got the contract and that telephone tendering/bidding took place?)
