Council Properties

Request

1. How many properties have been empty for more than 6 months? If possible categorise them such as 'due to poor state of repair'.
2. How many properties are currently available and ready to move into? (categorise such as 2 bedroom flat etc)
3. How many people are currently on a waiting list and what is the average time somebody is on the waiting list for housing?
4. What is the most commonly requested type of property? (3 bedroom house, bungalow etc)
5. Has the council got any plans to build more council homes and when is the building likely to commence? (categorise by type of property)
6. How many tenants are currently seeking rehousing? (to down size or increase size)
7. How many tenants currently have applications in via the Right to Buy scheme?
8. How many properties were sold via Right to Buy in the last 24 months?


The properties I am referring to in this FOI are council owned / social housing.


Response

1. How many properties have been empty for more than 6 months? If possible categorise them such as 'due to poor state of repair'.

One – The property requires extensive building works to bring it up to modern decency standards

2. How many properties are currently available and ready to move into? (categorise such as 2 bedroom flat etc)

Three

1 bedroom sheltered bungalow
1 bedroom sheltered flat
3 bedroom maisonette

3. How many people are currently on a waiting list and what is the average time somebody is on the waiting list for housing?

Active homeseeker applications 981
Deferred homeseeker applications 390

All new housing applications are assessed in accordance to their current housing circumstances and are then given priority in accordance with their housing situation. It this then further dependant on homeseekers to be actively participating in HomeOption (CBL)

4. What is the most commonly requested type of property? (3 bedroom house, bungalow etc)

Bedroom need is assessed according to the household make up. Currently, the following live applications have been assessed as requiring;

1 bedroom 551
2 bedroom 273
3 bedroom 157

5. Has the council got any plans to build more council homes and when is the building likely to commence? (categorise by type of property)

This will form part of the Council’s strategic housing needs assessment, one of the supporting documents to the Local Development Plan, to be published later this year


6. How many tenants are currently seeking rehousing? (to down size or increase size)

Active transfer applications (including HA) 349
Deferred transfer applications (including HA) 47

7. How many tenants currently have applications in via the Right to Buy scheme?

8. How many properties were sold via Right to Buy in the last 24 months?
