Response

Thank you for your email request dated 18th April 2012. I have below detailed the information as requested:-

• Minutes of meetings – these can be found on the council website www.brentwood.gov.uk under section Council & Democracy, chose ‘Meetings’ it then asks which committee (Environment Panel and previously for older minutes & agendas Environment and Housing Panel), you will then be able to access all agenda’s and minutes.
• Kerbside collection is carried out by Council staff and we collect residual and food waste weekly and dry recyclables, glass and garden waste fortnightly. I have detailed below the types of collections, contracts and where the collections are transferred to as requested in your email:-

Food waste treatment only

• Food and green waste treatment

Food Waste is collected separately and disposed and treated through the processor designated by Essex CC. The food waste collected in Brentwood is bulk transferred to Agrivert, Oxfordshire

• Green waste treatment only

Green waste is collected separately and disposed and treated through the processor designated by Essex CC. The green waste is collected and delivered directly to Veolia, Pitsea and Country Style, Ongar.

• Dry recyclates treatment or processing

Dry recyclates are collected co-mingled in sacks apart from mixed glass which is collected separately from boxes. All dry recyclates are delivered for disposal and treatment through an SLA with Basildon Council whereby we deposit the collected recyclates at Basildon for on ward transfer to their contracted processors.

The co-mingled dry recyclate is then transferred to the Edmonton MRF at Enfield which is operated by Biffa Waste Services. The glass cullet is similarly delivered to Basildon and the collected by Berrymans for onward processing.
