Dogs

Request

Please inform me how many dogs were collected by Brentwood Borough Council\'s dog warden in each of the following years: 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
-         Please inform me how many of these dogs were returned to their owners by the dog warden in each of the following years: 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
-         Please inform me how many of these dogs were adopted from the council\'s pound in each of the following years: 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
-         Please inform me how many of these dogs were rehomed at animal centres in each of the following years: 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
-         Please inform me how many of these dogs were put down/euthanised in each of the following years: 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
-         Please provide some details of those dogs that were euthanised in each of the years 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11 - e.g. were they bitches or dogs, pedigrees or mongrels, breeds, ages and colours etc
-         Please advise me what action the council takes before the decision is made to euthanise a dog
-         How many dog wardens does Brentwood Borough Council have?

Dogs are only euthanised (after they have been impounded for 7 days and not collected by owners) if they are aggressive, in poor health or very old and cannot be rehomed.
The Council has a full-time officer covering the Dog Warden duties in addition to other work with cover provided by two other officers for holiday and emergency cover as necessary.
