Public Toilets

Request

I am writing to make a request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible. If, however, this request is too wide or
too unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as I understand that under the act, you are required to advise and assist requesters.


I am looking to find out as much detail and information as possible on any public toilets owned by the council. Specifically, my questions are as follows:


• Does the council operate or run any public toilets? If so, how many?


• Are any of these toilets chargeable at the point of use to the public? If so, how much are the public charged?


• How much income or loss has the council made from any public toilets in the last three years? I would like to see theses figures broken down into year by year statistics, showing any income from charges, costs for upkeep and the overall profit or loss.

Response

1. Does the council operate or run any public toilets? If so, how many?
We currently have two public toilets in our Borough, we did previously have two Automatic Public Convenience toilets (APC’s) supplied by a Contractor, however this contract ceased in April 2016 and are no longer in use.

2. Are any of these toilets chargeable at the point of use to the public? If so, how much are the public charged?
The two current toilets we own and operate do not charge for entry (the two we have now closed did charge and they charged 20p per entry.

3. How much income or loss has the council made from any public toilets in the last three years? I would like to see theses figures broken down into year by year statistics, showing any income from charges, costs for upkeep and the overall profit or loss.
No income taken at point of entry for our current two public toilets - Costs to us would be the attendants wages and cleaning materials / supplies / electric / water.
Please note the two toilets supplied by contractors were closed to public in April So going forward the actual below will be less moving forward.
