Response

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. Please find the responses to your questions detailed below:

1. In the past five years, have you cancelled, curtailed, or introduced charging for any rubbish uplift service

Brentwood Borough Council provides a collection service for old, unusable items of furniture and domestic appliances such as fridges and freezers. This scheme has been in place for over 5 years and is carried out every Thursday for pre-booked domestic collections of bulky waste. The charges are £10.00 per item with a minimum charge of £20.00. For full details please refer to our website page http://www.brentwood.gov.uk/index.php?cid=985

2. For each of the past five years, please provide an estimate for how many Christmas Trees the council or its contractors have had to remove
from streets and other public spaces and the cost associated with said removals.

Our Waste Operatives (that collect the Garden Waste) collect Christmas Trees (from residents not businesses) that are left out kerbside after Christmas/New Year on the residents Green waste collection day (no charge for collecting Christmas trees) – we do not have records on how many Christmas trees have been collected or associated costs so we are unable to answer that part of the question. (Waste Operatives are Council employees – the Waste collections such as garden waste are run internally and not by Contractors).
3. For each of the past five years, please provide an estimate of how much the council has spent on removing fly-tipped rubbish.
