Tree Management

I would like to understand what systems the council is currently using to manage its tree (as in Oak trees etc.) assets. With this in mind please can you supply me with the
following information.


· Does the council use an electronic (IT system) to
manage its tree assets?


· What is the name of the software the council uses
to manage its tree assets?


· How many trees does the council managing?


· Does the council pay for the electronic system on
an annual basis? If so how much?


· Did the council pay for the electronic system up
front? If so how much? If so does the council pay an annual maintenance charge? if so how much?


· When was the software installed or service started?
Approximate Month/Year is acceptable.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request concerning tree management in Brentwood, this has been passed to me for a reply as the responsible Officer for this service area.


I would like to understand what systems the council is currently using to manage its tree (as in Oak trees etc.) assets. With this in mind please can you supply me with the
following information.


• Does the council use an electronic (IT system) to manage its tree assets?
Yes the Council uses an electronic inspections, enquiry and management system for managing its woodlands and tree stock.

• What is the name of the software the council uses to manage its tree assets?

The system is called and provided by Pear Technology.


• How many trees does the council managing?
There are approximately 440,000 trees in the Borough although there is no specific figure for how many of these are on Council owned and managed land.

• Does the council pay for the electronic system on an annual basis? If so how much?
The system is paid for on an annual license basis which is approximately £800 per annum.

• Did the council pay for the electronic system up front?
Yes the purchase cost of the system was made in a single transaction at the time the programme was acquired.
If so how much? If so does the council pay an annual maintenance charge? if so how much?
The system is paid for on an annual license basis which is approximately £800 per annum.

• When was the software installed or service started? Approximate Month/Year is acceptable.

The system was purchased in March 2015 with commencement of use in June/July 2015.
