Right to Buy

Request

1.       How many former council owned properties sold under the right to buy scheme has the council bought back under ‘buyback’
 annually from 2012 to date? Please could you provide the figures broken down per year?

 2.       How many former council owned properties sold under the right to buy scheme from 2012 to date, have been rented back by
 the council? Please could you provide the figures broken down per year?

 3.       What is the value of the receipts of right to buy sales since April 2012 and how much of this money has been be returned
 to central government as it has not been spent on building affordable housing within 3 years of receiving the funds? Additionally, how much interest has been be paid on these payments?

 4.       How many properties were sold under the right to buy scheme annually from 2012 to date?  What is the total value of the
 receipts under the right to buy scheme during this period and how much has been reinvested into building new affordable homes? How many new affordable homes have been built?

Response

1.       How many former council owned properties sold under the right to buy scheme has the council bought back under ‘buyback’
annually from 2012 to date? Please could you provide the figures broken down per year?   

None.

2.       How many former council owned properties sold under the right to buy scheme from 2012 to date, have been rented back by
the council? Please could you provide the figures broken down per year?    

None.

3.       What is the value of the receipts of right to buy sales since April 2012 and how much of this money has been be returned
to central government as it has not been spent on building affordable housing within 3 years of receiving the funds? Additionally, how much interest has been be paid on these payments?

Total Receipts to date are £4,425,930 of which the council has been able to retain £1,794,294.65 specifically for the development of Affordable Housing. No money has been returned to the government.


4.       How many properties were sold under the right to buy scheme annually from 2012 to date?  What is the total value of the
receipts under the right to buy scheme during this period and how much has been reinvested into building new affordable homes? How many new affordable homes have been built?

• 2012 – 11 Sold
• 2013 – 14 Sold
• 2014 – 16 Sold
• 2015 – 4 Sold so far

• £4,425,930 value of RTB income

• No new homes have been built to date, although there are two developments currently in Planning approval comprising of 7 new properties  
• 4 properties have been acquired to date from these receipts and let at Affordable rent.

Currently  £1,556,463.38 has been spent on acquiring properties to let at Affordable Rents and developing sites to build Affordable Housing
