Fly Tipping in and around Horseman Side CM14 5ST

This request is about fly-tipping on:


1. Horseman Side, Navestock, Brentwood CM14 5ST;

2. Old Road, Navestock, Brentwood;

3. The lane or by-way that starts between Summers Cottage and Waterhales Cottage on Horseman Side, and ends on Old Road, Navestock Brentwood (the Lane);

4. Sabines Road, Navestock Brentwood;

5. Tan House Lane, Navestock Brentwood;

6. Dytchleys Lane, Navestock, Brentwood; and

7. Murthering Lane, Navestock, Brentwood



(Together, the Area).



I'd be grateful if you would tell me, in respect of each of the Lane and the Area; and in respect of each of the financial years 2012/3, 2013/4 and 2014/5:



1. How many reports of fly tipping the Borough Council received;

2. How many visits it made to inspect and/or clear fly-tipping; and

3. How much the Borough Council spent visiting, clearing or otherwise deal with this fly-tipping (an approximate cost will suffice, if precise figures are not easily available).

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding fly tipping in and around Horsemanside.  Please find our responses to your questions below, however, please be aware we do not hold specific records for specific areas, so the answers for questions 1 and 3 below relate to the Borough in its entirety not just Horsemanside.

1. How many reports of fly tipping the Borough Council received;

   2012/13 -  446                 2013/14 – 474                 2014/15 - 728

2. How many visits it made to inspect and/or clear fly-tipping; and

 Estimate of 10 visits to inspect and estimate 52 visits to clear. (All of Navestock area) in the past year.

3. How much the Borough Council spent visiting, clearing or otherwise deal with this fly-tipping (an approximate cost will suffice, if precise figures are not easily available).

 In the past year the estimated costs of visiting, collecting and disposing of fly tips in the Borough are around £60,000. This also includes £1,800 costs for our Environmental Health Officers dealing with these issues.
