I am writing from the Born Free Foundation, the international animal welfare and conservation organisation. Each year, we contact all Local Authorities in Britain to request details of all premises with Zoo Licences (under Zoo Licensing Act 1981 (as amended)) in each constituency.
Under the Freedom of Information Act or Environmental Information Regulations (as applicable), I would like to submit this request again, in order to update our records and track changes nationwide.
If your records have not changed since our request last year, we would still be grateful if you could send the requested information to enable us to maintain accurate records and mark the council as providing a complete return.
If your Local Authority has formed a partnership with another authority, please include information for all relevant constituencies.
1. Complete the information table which can be downloaded here http://bit.ly/ZooLicenceTable and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. (The link may need to be copied and pasted into the search engine).
2. For each premises with a Zoo Licence, return a copy of the most recent annual zoo stocklist (outlining births, arrivals, deaths etc. in accordance with Section 9.5 of the Standards of Modern Zoo Practice).
3. For each premises with a Zoo Licence, return a copy of the most recent Zoo Inspection Report for 'formal' periodical or renewal inspections carried out unver S.10 or S.14.2 by Government-appointed Zoo Inspectors. Please ensure all pages (1-10) plus any pages with additional conditions are included.
NB. The Zoo Licensing Act and associated standards require that a copy of the annual stocklist and inspection report is sent to the Local Authority. As our request is made for information that should be within the council's records - there should be no need to contact the zoo in relation to this matter.
Please find attached as requested. Having run a check on this the information is the same as last year. I have no additional stocklist or inspectors report and have therefore attached the most recent, these being those that were submitted with our 2014 response.
