Procurement of external litter bins

I am trying to establish how the council procures its external litter bins and have the following questions:

· What has the council spent in each of the last 4 years to March 2014 on external street and park litter bins?

· Going forward how is the budget expected to change and by how much?

· Who have been the top 5 suppliers of litter bins in each of these years and how much did the council spend with each?

· Has the council followed a tender process? If so can you provide details including when any existing contracts come to an end.

· If the council does not follow a tender process, how does the council select its supplier?

· Does the council have a policy for renewals of litter bins? If so please can I have a description.

· Does the council rent or lease any litter bins? If so please can I have details

· When do you make the majority of your purchases? Jan – March, April – Jun, Jul – Sept & Oct – Dec

· Please provide access to any committee reports or council discussion papers prepared since 1 January 2013 that address the council’s plans for litter bin procurement

Going forward how is the budget expected to change and by how much?

No change expected.

Who have been the top 5 suppliers of litter bins in each of these years and how much did the council spend with each?

External Street 2011 – Unicorn £1600 Parks - Broxap £20,672
External Street 2012 – Unicorn £2800, Glasdon £2600 Parks - Broxap £12,926,
External Street 2013 – Glasdon £4100, Parks - Broxap £15,000
External Street 2014 – Glasdon £3100

The council does not follow a tender process as it is below the threshold.

If the council does not follow a tender process, how does the council select its supplier?

Suppliers are selected through previous experience of suppliers, quality and value of samples given or shown and also level of support. To provide the residents and taxpayers of Brentwood the best product available for value, quality and suitability.

Does the council have a policy for renewals of litter bins? If so please can I have a description.

No policy for renewals, however poor condition bins get replaced as required.

Does the council rent or lease any litter bins? If so please can I have details

No.

When do you make the majority of your purchases? Jan - March, April - Jun, Jul - Sept & Oct – Dec

Varies, when stock levels are diminished.
